White Plains, NY - February 21, 2026. This year’s Westchester Knicks game was against the Cleveland Charge. As the students arrived off the bus you could feel the excitement in the air as fans lined up to the Westchester County Center waiting for doors to open. The event started off with the students from Curiale Elementary School and Bassick High School being provided with foods options such as salads, chicken tenders, fries, waters, and juice. The Curiale students apart of our Books to Basketball Program were able to stand on the court with the players for the National Anthem.

While Walter was looking for his seat, Brandon the marketer and content manager for the program noticed Allan Houston and notified Walt. Walt called Alan over and they were reminiscing about the 1993 NBA draft. Allan was the 11th overall pick to the Detroit Pistons (the same team Walter was drafted to in 1975). Walter attended 1993 NBA draft with Lou Albanese, through Westport Sports Management as Vinny Baker’s agent. Vinny was the 8th overall pick to the Milwaukee Bucks. Walter, Lou, and Vinny were sitting near Allan Houston and his father on the same draft bus.

Overall game day was fun! The students were excited as usual especially for the T-shirt contest. Overall, the Westchester Knicks were up the whole game, the Charge tried to charge… to make a comeback, but the Knicks held up and were able to extend the lead to closeout with a win!
