Every February we celebrate Black History Month by having a trip for our students in our various programs. On February 1, 2024, we took our students to see the New York Knicks take on the Indiana Pacers. This trip was a vision of our dear friend Bernie Lofton. Bernie wanted to provide his student athletes the opportunity to attend a professional basketball game. Not any game, but a game at Madison Square Garden which is known as the "Most Famous Arena in the World".
Our partnership with the Westchester Knicks, 'the G league affiliate' of the NBA's New York Knicks, was able to make this event possible. We would like to thank Chris Smith, formally of UCONN Mens Basketball and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wesley Matthews Sr formerly of the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers, the University of Bridgeport Mens Basketball team, judge Turner of Waterbury, and Evan Smith a representative from Unilever brands for being in attendance.
